Origin
|
The Danish Broholmer originated in Denmark. They have been around since the middle
ages where they were used for hunting and later as a guard dog. By the end of the
18th century, these dogs were bred pure and increased in number thanks to the royal
game keeper Sehested of Broholm, from where the breed's name originated. After near
extinction, a group of committed people organized a group call "The Society for
Reconstruction of the Broholmer Breed". This breed is recognized by the FCI and
the UKC.
