Norrbottenspets are a small Nordic hunting dog. The skull is moderately wide and rather flat with a slightly arched forehead. The nose is black and the eyes are almond-shaped and dark. The ears sit high, are large and are stiffly erect with rounded tips. The neck is moderately long and the topline is level. The chest is deep and long and there is a moderate tuck up. The tail curls loosely with the tip touching the upper thigh. Bobtails are not allowed. The coat of this breed is hard, short and straight. All colors are permitted; however, the ideal color is white with yellow or reddish/brown markings.

Temperament Norrbottenspets are affectionate, loyal, attentive self-confident and fearless. They bond well with children and other pets in the home.

Origin The Norrbottenspets hail from Sweden and are a member of the Spitz family. This breed was originally used to hunt small game but today, it is mostly used as a companion dog. The Norrbottenspets is known for a type of hunting call ?tree barking? making this a very vocal breed. They are occasionally known as the Nordic Spitz. This rare breed is virtually unknown in North America. They are recognized by the UKC and the FCI and have been accepted for recording in the AKC Foundation Stock Service®.
