This training collar has actually saved my dog's life. I could go on and on explaining its wonderful attributes but I want to explain how I use the collar, which is not exactly the intended method. My dog, Luvey, is a Whippet, and can run up to 35 mph. She needs to run off leash daily in a large open space, preferably with other dogs. I am fortunate to have a couple dog parks nearby that meet these needs and have lots of trees for squirrel chasing. The park we most often venture has a few roads that run through it with a 15 mph speed limit. Of course, 15 mph is frequently ignored.
As instructed, I taught Luvey the basic commands. When Luvey gets too far from me or I lose sight of her in the woods, I use the vibrate button and then follow up with the command which is usually "Luvey, come". If Luvey ignores me, I hit vibrate again and call our "Luvey come" and if she still doesn't appear, I call call out "Luvey, bad girl" and hit the vibrate again. Once I say "bad girl", she knows the next action will be a quick zap. Its a rare time that I need to zap her as she comes quickly.
The amazing thing is that even if she's running full speed and I see her headed for a road, I hit vibrate to get her attention and call out stop and then wait. Luvey actually stops before the street and waits for me to give her the "OK" to cross. Amazing!!! Life Saving!!!
Luvey just turned 4 yrs old and I still use the color every time we go on a walk where she might be let loose. She is fully aware if I forget the collar (1 time) or let the charge run out (a few times). She's still stubborn enough that she will misbehave at those times
Thank you Dogtra for such a wonderful device that keeps my dog safe.
