WALK MS
Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disease that affects the brain and spinal cord using the immune system. When MS is not in remission, it can be debilitating and relapse at unpredictable times. People with MS may experience effects such as numbness, memory problems, pain, fatigue, blindness, and/or paralysis. National Multiple Sclerosis Society mission is to empower people affected by MS to live their best lives by funding research efforts for a cure, advocacy, education, and programs to help people with MS thrive. The Care-A-Lot Charitable foundation is a proud supporter of WalkMS Virginia Beach and Newport News, a large-scale effort to rally against MS as a community and raise funds for continued support.

VA SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Every year, you may notice our ice blue paw prints around the store. Care-A-Lot Pets like to kick off the new year gearing up for Virginia Special Olympics Polar Plunge. Each year we raise money with donations-matching sponsors to ensure Virginia’s Special Olympics goal of supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities and promote inclusivity in everyday society. Studies show that people with intellectual disabilities do not get as many opportunities or roles in sports while also accommodating to their needs. Special Olympic athletes can find opportunities to be active, find community, and find courage with funds raised through Polar Plunge. If you have donated or participated with us in years pass, we’d like to give a great big thank you!
MUTTS WITH A MISSION
Last but not least, we must give a big shout out to Mutts with a Mission! Based here in Virginia Beach, Mutts with a mission train service dogs to assist veterans, law enforcement, and first responders with mobility difficulties and PTSD. They received their Assistance Dog International Accreditation in 2017 and raise their dogs to the highest standards of treatment towards dogs and clients. Donated supplies from Care-A-Lot Helps Mutts with a Mission care for their fast-growing pups with their many needs.
