New Year's Pet Resolutions
A new year brings the promise of change for the better, and it goes without saying that after the previous year we all welcome the opportunity. What resolutions, if any, have you made for next year? It’s understandable if you decide to skip this tradition, though involving your pet in New Year’s Resolutions might help with accountability toward good habits, and to bond with your furry companion.
The key to accomplishing resolutions is to set realistic goals. While hiking the entire Appalachian Trail with your dog sounds exciting, if it’s not doable right now consider an alternative plan. With that in mind, your first pet resolution for the new year could be:
Explore a New Path: Walking the trails with your dog is great exercise, and brings you back to nature. For the new year, try at least one new-to-you route for a change of scenery. Search state parks and nature preserves in your area for dog-friendly spaces, and don’t forget to bring water (the Spot Handi Drink is great for this) to stay hydrated.
Hit the trails with the best dog hiking supplies. Pick up the EzyDog Chest Plate Dog Harness and the EzyDog Zero Shock Leash.
Play More: After the year we’ve had, we all need time out to relax. If your situation kept you working from home, we imagine it was frustrating for your pets when you weren’t able to give them your attention. In the new year, make time to play more with your pets. Even a simple game of catch in the backyard can raise their spirits and in turn leave you smiling.
Spring Clean Early: The new year often means clearing out the old. As you declutter your home, go through your pet’s belongings as well. Is your pet ready for a new bed, feeder bowls, or fresher toys? Replace what is broken and worn, and some equipment is still in fairly good condition (like crates and strollers) consider donating or consigning to a thrift store.
Keep your carpets and play areas fresh with Nature’s Miracle Air Care Deodorizer Spray. For stubborn pet stains, Nature’s Miracle Advanced Stain and Odor Eliminator can help.
Get That Check-Up: With all the challenges we faced last year, it’s important to make sure we stay healthy. This goes for your pets, too. If it’s been a while since yours has been to the veterinarian, consider a wellness visit.
Supplements can help boost pet health. We recommend Nupro All Natural Dog Supplement, VetriScience Laboratories’ Canine Plus Multivitamin, and Open Farm Immune Supplement Chews.
