As Summer Heats Up, Ways to Cool Down with Your Pet
Summer 2024 is predicted to break a few heat records and before those triple digit temperatures become reality, you can plan ahead and prepare your pet for the warm temperatures.
Animals have built-in cooling systems (panting helps to expel additional heat) and air conditioning works wonders, but when temperatures soar, sometimes you need to plan for additional reinforcements to cool down your pet.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Seems simple enough to have some cool water available for your pet, but owners have many options to add to their arsenal to prevent their pet from getting dehydrated. Here are a few of our favorites:
Make a Splash!
Many pets enjoy jumping into a pool or submerging themselves in cool water, and what better way to cool off than by taking a dip in their very own pool? We also have a great option for smaller dogs or for an outdoor bath!
Not a fan of being wet, we have an excellent solution with a cooling mat. Your pet can receive the same benefits by laying on a cooling mat. We also have many pet friends who enjoy the cooling mat all year long!
Protect their pads
Hot temps outside also mean even hotter temps on sand, concrete, or blacktop, which can burn and severely hurt sensitive paws. A safer way to be able to walk on these surfaces with your pet is by using paw boots, available in lite and all terrain.
Following a trip outside, a nice paw balm is always a great idea to moisturize and protect your pet’s paws as well.
A lick (or more) a day keeps the heat away
A nice hot day can also bring a craving for a nice, cold ice cream, and there is a perfect option that is safe for your pet.
Care-A-Lot Pet Supply also carries Woof Popsicles, which are a great, chilly option for your pet as well. You can begin with the tray to create the Pupsicles, pour in the beef recipe, and make it fun by adding the frozen treat to the toy.
